Come and join the Fabians as we debate one of the biggest questions in politics today. As the idea of our engagement in Europe is called into question we will discuss the future of the EU and its role in social policy. Do EU policies put our prosperity at risk? And what’s the fairest way to make these policy decisions?

Alongside the shape of our engagement one of the key public questions about the future of the European Union is whether and how it can seek to pursue both social and economic goals in the interest of all its citizens.

The conference will particularly seek to examine how the European Project might evolve, change and respond to new and emerging economic conditions. It will also examine what this generation's approach to political economy and the social dimension can draw and learn from previous social Europe agendas and where different approaches are needed now.

Speakers include: Emma Reynolds MP (Shadow Europe Minister), Neal Lawson (Chair, Compass), David Gow (The Guardian) Claude Moraes MEP (Member of the European Parliament for London), Mark Stears (Professor of Political Theory, University of Oxford), Robert Evans (former MEP), Owen Tudor (Head of European Union and International Relations Department, TUC), Jon Worth (IPPR, LME executive and LabourList), Ivana Bartoletti (former advisor to the Italian Government, editor of Fabiana), Alexandra Pardell (Foreign Policy Centre).
