Next Generation Europe: Policy Report Launch

Committee Room 12, Houses of Parliament

Event starts:

Come and join the Fabians as we launch our new policy report in association with Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung entitled, ‘Next Generation Europe’. The event will feature contributions from Shadow Europe Minister Emma Reynolds MP as well as the report’s authors.

The EU was founded on a ‘never again’ spirit following the second world war, yet the arguments the first generation of European leaders made for closer integration resonate less and less as time goes by.

New polling conducted by YouGov for the Fabian Society and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung shows that 18-to-34-year-olds are instinctively and culturally more pro-European than other groups having grown up with the benefits of cross-continental co-operation. Yet there is also a fear that this will not translate politically and the next generation will not take a stand for the EU in an increasingly anti-EU climate.

Featuring:

  • Emma Reynolds (Shadow Minister for Europe)
  • Ulrich Storck (Director, FES London)
  • Andrew Harrop (General Secretary, Fabian Society)
  • with more TBC

The event will take place at Committee Room 12 in the House of Commons on May 13th starting at 7pm and finishing around 8:30pm. Entry is free but it is essential you register using the form below.

Our new report features contributions from Emma Reynolds (Shadow Europe Minister), Peter Kellner (President, YouGov), Ed Wallis (Editor, Fabian Review), Ulrich Storck (Director, FES London) and a panel of young policy experts from all over Europe. The report comes free with the latest issue of the Fabian Review. To join the Fabians and receive your free copy head to the join page.
