Saturday 19 November | 13:30-16:30 | Stephenson Room, Broadway House, London SW1H 9NQ
Dear Fabian friends,
Our AGM is an opportunity for all members to have their say in the Fabian Society’s policy direction.
As with every year, we will host a discussion ahead of the formal business of our AGM. This year’s discussion will be:
Facing the Unknown: How to ensure a Brexit that works for all
Since June 23 the Brexit discussion has been dominated by the Conservative party. Brexit has the potential to cause significant damage to the UK economy, workers’ rights, environmental protection and the UK’s standing in the world. The process of leaving the EU cannot be left to one political party alone to dictate. It is therefore urgent that a strong alternative vision of Brexit is put forward to the country, one which will work for all.
The Labour party faces a multitude of challenges, not least agreeing a unified position on the negotiations. Labour must get the tactics right in order that the best possible Brexit outcome is achieved.
· What is the best possible form of Brexit that can work for all?
· What are Labour’s negotiating demands for Brexit?
· What is the best approach to influence the outcome of the Brexit negotiations?
· How can Labour campaign without alienating those who voted to leave or those who voted to remain?
Speakers: Seema Malhotra MP (Feltham and Heston), Mary Honeyball MEP (London), Cllr Brendan Chilton (Labour Leave) and James Morris (GQR Research)
At the close of the meeting (16:30 approx.), there will be an informal social at a nearby pub, TBC shortly.
