The Fabian Society is delighted to be able to extend an invite to its membership from the High Pay Centre to an international conference on the future of women in the boardroom, in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung London and The Guardian.
The HPC will be asking why there is such a low percentage of women on boards across Europe and how this imbalance can be adressed. Hearing from representatives of countries where quota systems are in place, we will ask whether quotas are the right solution in the UK and Europe.
This conference will include two panels, one focused on the view from abroad and the other on the debate within the UK.
Speaking at the conference will be: Deborah Hargreaves (Founding Director, The High Pay Center), Richard Emerton (Senior Client Partner & Head, EMEA Board Services, KORN/Ferry Whitehead Mann), Jutta von Falkenhausen (Vice-President, FidAR German Association promoting women on corporate boards), Alessia Mosca (Partito Democratico, Co-Signatory of Italian ‘pink quotas’ law), Alicia Martìnez Poza (Sociologist and Researcher, Institute of the Spanish General Confederation of Workers’ Commissions), Mari Teigen (Institute for Social Research, Oslo, author of ‘Women on Board: The Norwegian Experience’), Julia Finch (CIty Editor, The Guardian), Rachel Reeves MP (Leeds West – tbc), Justine Roberts (Founder & CEO, Mumsnet), Sacha Sadan (Director of Corporate Governance, LGIM) and Nadhim Zahawi (Conservative MP for Stratford-upon-Avon, Founder & CEO, YouGov)
